Standout Features of Kindle Fire HD 7 Tablet
Amazon Prime: If you need a device much smaller than the Ipad then this product will definitely work for you. It’s meant to be a media device but which many more additional features. If you are music savvy, then you would love this; you can upload lots of music to Amazon cloud and enjoy refined music.
This product will work for you if you do lots of reading; the Amazon Prime members can borrow up to 180,000 titles for free with the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
One of the challenges of other similar devices is fragility, the Fire HD was built tough and designed to withstand accidental bumps and scrapes; you would definitely love it.

The numerous features of this product listed above are enough benefits to make you want to buy the product; the only downside of the product is that it’s a bit heavy. Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 Tablet: In-Depth review
Let’s take an in-depth review of the Kindle Fire 7.
Kindle Fire HD 7 Pros
This cheap Kindle Fire also possesses several other unique characteristics which include:
- Audio: Music lovers can enjoy Top quality, refined, virtual surround Dolby audio. This technology makes it possible to automatically audio profile based on your activity, such as listening to music, watching a movie, etc.
- WiFi Access: Want excellent download speed? This device is integrated with a dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi for 40% faster download and streaming. With this feature, you can go further from your wireless hotspot than with other tablets.
- Processor Speed: For a fast smooth performance this device was built with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. This HD device uses an imagination PowerVR 3D graphics core which aids even graphically-intensive games to run smoothly.
- Apps, Entertainment, and Social Media: Want some entertainment? The machine comes with 22 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines, books, audiobooks, and popular apps which include Facebook, Netflix, Twitter, HBO GO, Pandora, and Angry birds space with integrated support. Free skype video calls also available.
Amazon Fire 7 Battery Life
Battery Life: The device has extremely low power consumption, lasts up to 11 hours without a power source.
Of course, battery life varies depending on the settings you use. Amazon Fire HD 7 tablet, will completely charge within three hours if you use the Kindle Power Fast charging accessory.
Without that, it still charges pretty quickly but takes a little longer. However, if you use your computer to charge this Kindle it will take about twelve hours.
Therefore I recommend using either the Power Fast accessory or another USB power adapter not associated with your computer.
Amazon’s Kindle Fire is equipped with media players that support a wide range of media formats.
This means that you will be able to play any media files without problems. Supported video formats include MP4 and VP8. Supported audio formats include MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, and MIDI. The 3.5mm jack works with a vast assortment of earphones.
Wi-Fi and Connectivity
I have a standard method for testing new electronic devices. That is to compare how fast each one runs in a test alongside one another, with a familiar device, performing this same test close to and far away from the router inside my home.
For the comparison, I used the Kindle Fire 7″, LCD Display, Wi-Fi, and 8GB alongside the original version, and my smartphone, each using only a cellular connection vs. wi-fi.
For my webpage test, I visit the mobile web for Google, my Facebook page, and The Onion. So for each of these sites, I could see no difference in the loading times on any of the devices at the spot nearest to the router. I also didn’t see a difference at the spot farthest from my router. So for connectivity speed, I have to conclude that this device is no better or worse than other devices.
Music and Sound Playback
As with the older version, there are two speakers located in two discreet ports at the head of the device.
In order to test this feature, I listened to a rendition of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” turned up as loud as I could get it. I covered each speaker one at a time.
The sound is supreme, true stereo. There isn’t any degradation of sound. There is a headphone jack at the foot of the device.
This isn’t the most convenient placement in my opinion; however, it serves its purpose.

Video Playback and Screen Display
Some adjustments have been made in the resolution/display. Therefore I decided to compare the viewing display between this Fire and the original version.
I did this by watching an episode of one of my favorite old television shows, MacGyver, on each device. From what I saw, the picture on the new Fire is much better than on the original version. It appears much more clear and sharp.
Reading on the Kindle Fire 7
Like the games, there are many free books available. I have located and loaded quite a few books, both for myself and my kids. It is very easy to read on this Kindle HD.
If necessary, you can prop this device up so you can read and do other things at the same time. To turn the page, a light tap on the side is all that is needed.
In addition, if you are unable to read while performing other tasks, there is a button you can click in order to have it read to you.
Screen Layout, New Tabs and email
Along with the standard tabs for Books, Video, Newsstand, Music, Apps, Webs, and Docs, Amazon has included a fresh look to the general display.
Now, instead of five rows of five apps, it shows only four rows of four apps, featuring larger fonts and icons. In addition, new tabs titled, Games, Audiobooks, Offers, and Shop has been added.
The tab for apps displays all apps on the device or in the cloud, the game tab, however, categorizes apps so that they are game-specific. Also, there are many free games to find.
Setting up email on the Kindle Fire is extremely easy. It took only a moment to set up my primary Google account.
I do not have any problems sending and receiving emails on this device. For those among you who desire more than the standard email app, there is an app called Enhanced Email that Amazon offers for free.
Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 Review: Final Verdict
Does the Kindle Fire HD 7 perform as Advertised?
On a scale of 1 – 10, I would rate the performance advertised a ‘9’. Most of the features work properly as advertised but just one or two hitches. The volume buttons are usually problematic and stiff, I sometimes find it difficult to turn it down unless I power off the device entirely.
In terms of performance, I would say that this cheap Amazon device meets up to its expectations even if not entirely. It’s basically a media device and so far it has proven to be more than just a media device.
The Kindle Fire HD 7 allows for improved readability for books on Amazon, the images produced by this device are very clear and the audio is superb. My 2 cents is that Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD 7 serves its purpose. However you should check the Fire 8 HD also which is the improved version of Fire HD 7.
